Praia da Pipa is one of Brazil's most trendy coastal villages; first discovered by hippies and surfers but increasingly hip with lots of trendy restaurants and bars.

Only some 90km south of the airport, it has a lot of nature to offer... Although the city beach itself is quite small, Pipa has a great choice of beaches nearby; either lined with impressive tall dunes (like in Tibau do Sul), or with pink and orange cliffes, or with deserted areas like Praia do Amor where the sea turtles can lay their eggs in peace.

At night, the little village comes alive; with lots of little bars and restaurant, often run by Argentinians and Italians, who've added a touch of style and quite some nightlife to this otherwise small and simple village.

Although in Pipa itself there's little beachfront property left - as the road from Natal cuts through the cliffs very close to the beach - a major resort is being developed some 15km away and the village is bound to become one of the chiquer, small resorts in Brazil.

For permanent living, the village today is still a little bit limited - but the shopping malls of Natal are not too far away and five years from now the village will probably be as well-known as Arraial d'Ajuda, Itacaré or Trancoso.

Obviously, property in Praia da Pipa will quickly rise in price as well. Most hotels in Pipa today are simple but cute pousadas, but there is a trend for more and more upmarket boutique hotels to open in Pipa and Tibau do Sul, and the first modern condo's and villa developments are already under construction.
